First meeting as President #
…and it has to be a weird one. Apologies if we don’t get to that short meeting goal quite yet.
There is no Committee of the Whole meeting, just the Board Meeting.
The Easy Stuff #
A pickleball tournament is being proposed at Crawford Park with proceeds going to the Village Parks Department for shade structures. We just need to waive reservation fees. Sounds like a simple one.
We have an agreement to approve a contract for Caledonia to provide fire and EMS services to the Village of North Bay.
Then some accounts payable checks.
Then a review of the 2027 budget schedule.
Closed session #1 #
There is a proposed development project in TID #4 at 4300 Carly Ave. If we’re discussing anything in closed session, then it must be about possible deal terms.

Hearing #
Then the crazy thing, a hearing. Apparently, there’s a dispute over fees charged on some development at 7 Mile Rd and I-94, and the dispute is going to the board for judgment. This hearing will be done in open session, so show up if you are interested in listening.

The open part of the meeting is trial-like: calling witnesses, showing exhibits, etc. Duration is unknown, but I believe the clearing of the agendas is an indication that this hearing might take a long time.
Then we go to closed session to decide. Duration: also unknown.
I don’t know more than that because the board is supposed to be impartial. We are purposely kept in the dark prior to the hearing so as to judge only on the evidence presented.
Why is the first meeting I have to run a weird one? Don’t judge my meeting management skills on the first meeting, ok?
Reminder of Vacancy #
I vacated my Trustee #2 seat when I took the President position. The village is taking applications to fill that seat. The term runs through April 2028. Click here for details.
