Tue, Oct 6, 2026, 6pm - Board and CoW Meetings #
Except perhaps for the budget topic, this looks to be a pretty light agenda.
Board #
6.A. Public Hearing on amending an ordinance related to stormwater management. There are loopholes. We are closing them.
7.A. Establish mixed-use zoning district. We don’t have one. We should have one.
7.B. Fire Station 11 (Nicholson & 6 Mile) has a busted septic system pump. Hats off to the staff still working there. I visited. It stinks, literally not figuratively. We’re in a hurry to fix it, thus the sole source.
7.C. Fire Station 11 needs replacing, not just because it stinks. It’s old, really old, older than I am. This is step 1 of the ultimate replacement of the facility: some analysis by some architects. We’ll throw in the possibility of a shooting range too. No commitment there, but while they are at it, we might as well analyze that too. Output of the analysis will be a price and a plan.
8.B. We’ll fill some open spots on the Plan Commission and the Parks Committee.
8.C. Budget update

Recall that we asked for some updates: expenses should grow no more than revenue, levy should stay flat, restore levy funding of capital projects to prior year level, new debt should be no more than debt principal retired in 2027. In the meeting, we’ll go over those updates, and open the discussion for any other changes to the budget. The Finance Committee made one recommendation for a cut in the capital project list that we will discuss.
You can find the updated budget document here.
9.A. Waters Edge
This will be simple. We’ll constitute the committee that will create the vision and range of options for the property. Likely we will name 3 board members, identify a number of community members, and then define a period of time for residents to formally apply. Then the chair of the committee will choose the community members, we’ll meet, and the work will start. I’m sorry this one has been moving at the speed of government. Goal on Tuesday is to start the ball rolling downhill.
Committee of the Whole #
6.A. Update on using Village Hall for community center functions.
